What are the surf spots in Taghazout?
The village is famous for its right-hand point breaks — Anchor Point, Killer Point, Hash Point and Boilers among them. They work best on a winter swell and they are intermediate-to-advanced waves. Around and between them sit the sandy beach breaks where beginners actually learn.
When does Taghazout work best?
October to April is the peak, with consistent groundswell and offshore mornings. From April to September the waves are smaller and cleaner, which is better for learning and far quieter. The water sits between roughly 17 and 22 °C all year.
How busy does it get?
The famous points get genuinely crowded on good winter days — Anchor Point can hold eighty surfers — and the fortnight around Christmas and New Year is the busiest of the year. Late October and early March give you the same swell with a fraction of the people.
What is the village actually like?
A former fishing village that grew into a surf town, built on a hill above the bay. Cafés, surf shops, rooftops, a lot of people who came for a week and stayed. It is small enough to walk end to end in ten minutes and lively without being a party resort.
How do I get to Taghazout?
Agadir Al Massira airport (AGA) is 25 km south, roughly 30 minutes by road, and has direct flights from most major European cities. Grand taxis run the route constantly, and camp transfers can be arranged when you book.
What is there to do on a flat day?
Paradise Valley in the Atlas foothills, the Souss-Massa national park, the fish market and souks in Agadir, or a day trip up the coast to Imsouane. Yoga and hammams are everywhere in the village itself.
