Where do you run surf camps in Morocco?

Taghazout, Tamraght and Essaouira. All three sit on the Atlantic coast, and each suits a different kind of trip — Taghazout for the points, Tamraght for a first week, Essaouira for waves alongside a medina.

Which of your surf camps is best for a complete beginner?

Tamraght, because its waves break over sand and its beaches stay quiet. Essaouira is a close second, with a sheltered bay and a town to enjoy when you are too sore to paddle. Taghazout works for beginners too, but its reputation comes from waves that are not for your first week.

Do I need to bring a board?

No. Boards and wetsuits are included on every surf lesson and camp, in every size — soft-tops for beginners, harder boards as you progress. Bring your own only if you have one you love.

What level do I need to join a surf camp?

None. Every camp starts with complete beginners and runs groups by level, so you are coached alongside people at your stage. Intermediates get spot selection and technique work rather than the first-wave lesson.

How many hours of surfing are in a camp?

It depends on the camp length. The Essaouira camps carry 8 hours over four days, 10 over six and 12 over eight. Taghazout and Tamraght camps run two coached sessions a day across the stay.

When is the surf season in Morocco?

September to April for the most consistent Atlantic groundswell, with the biggest waves in midwinter. April to September brings smaller, cleaner surf and far fewer people — better conditions for learning, if not for photographs.

Can I combine two locations in one trip?

Yes, and it works well over ten days or more. Taghazout and Tamraght are fifteen minutes apart, and Essaouira is a three-hour drive up the coast. Message us with your dates and we will put a split trip together.

Is surfing in Morocco safe for beginners?

On the right beach, yes. Beginner lessons run in waist-deep whitewater on sandy bottoms with a certified coach in the water alongside you. The risk in Moroccan surfing comes from rocky point breaks and strong swell — which is exactly why we do not teach on them.
