What is the difference between Tamraght and Taghazout?
Five kilometres and a completely different feel. Tamraght is a quieter village with sandy beach breaks rather than rocky points, which makes it far more forgiving for a first week. Taghazout has the famous waves, the crowds and the nightlife. You can stay in one and visit the other in fifteen minutes.
Why do you send beginners to Tamraght?
Because the waves break over sand. A fall on a sandbank is a different experience from a fall on a reef, and the peaks shift along the beach so people spread out instead of stacking into one takeoff zone. Banana Beach and Devil's Rock are the two names you will hear most.
Is there anything to do in the village?
Not a great deal, and that is the appeal. Tamraght is a working Moroccan village with a handful of cafés, a small souk and argan groves behind it. People who choose it want to surf, eat well and sleep, with Taghazout and Agadir close by when they want more.
When should I come to Tamraght?
Autumn and spring are the sweet spots — enough swell to progress on, small enough to enjoy, and quiet. Winter brings the biggest waves, which suits improvers more than first-timers. Summer is gentle and warm, ideal for a complete beginner.
How far is Tamraght from the airport?
About 20 minutes from Agadir Al Massira (AGA), slightly closer than Taghazout. It is the first of the two villages you reach coming up the coast road.
Is Tamraght suitable for families?
It is the most family-friendly of our locations. The beach is wide and sandy, the water is shallow a long way out, the village is calm, and children can take lessons from about age 8.
