Once you can ride upwind, Moulay Bouzerktoun half an hour north opens up — one of the best wave-riding spots on the Atlantic coast, and strictly for advanced riders.

How much do kitesurf lessons in Essaouira cost?
Group lessons are €45 for 2h, €90 for 4h, €130 for 6h and €250 for the full 10-hour course. Semi-private runs €60 to €300 and private €80 to €400. Everything is included in those prices — kite, board, harness, wetsuit and safety gear.
Which package should I book as a beginner?
The 10-hour course if you want to leave riding. The IKO recommends 9 to 12 hours before independent riding, so a 2-hour taster and even a 6-hour block are steps along the way rather than the whole journey.
What does the wind do here through the day?
Mornings are usually calm and the thermal trade wind fills in through the early afternoon, blowing side-onshore into the bay at roughly 18 to 25 knots. Lessons are scheduled around that build, which is why kite sessions are afternoon sessions.
Is a sandy bay better for learning than a lagoon?
It is a different kind of good. Essaouira's bay is wide, sandy and side-onshore, which is the safest wind direction for a beginner because it pushes you back to the beach. Dakhla's lagoon is flatter and shallower. Both work; Essaouira comes with a town attached.
What is radio coaching?
A speaker in your helmet so your instructor can correct you in real time while you are on the water, instead of shouting from the beach or waiting for you to come back in. It noticeably shortens the early hours.
Do you teach in the winter?
Yes, but the wind is less reliable between November and March, so sessions are planned day by day around the forecast. If your trip is short, book between April and October when the trade wind is at its most dependable.
How many students in a kitesurf group?
Four at most, and the group shares equipment during the ground-handling stage. Semi-private is two students, private is one-to-one and gives you every minute of the kite time.
Can I learn if I cannot swim well?
You need to be comfortable in water and able to swim. Kitesurfing is not a deep-water sport in the early hours — most of it happens standing — but self-rescue is part of the course and it requires water confidence.
How much do I weigh matters?
It determines your kite size, not whether you can learn. Your instructor picks the kite from your weight and the day's wind strength, which is exactly why sizing is their job and not something to worry about.
Can I ride on my own after the course?
After 10 hours many people can ride and get back upwind, which is the point at which riding alone becomes realistic. Whether you are ready is a judgement your instructor makes with you, not a number of hours ticked off.
Do you also teach wingfoiling?
Not through ZoraSurf at the moment. If it is what you are after, tell us when you get in touch and we will point you to who does it here.
What if I have kited before?
Then you do not need the beginner course. Tell us your level and what you want to work on — getting upwind, transitions, first jumps — and we will put you with a coach for targeted sessions rather than starting from the wind window.
